Beyond BDD’s Mission
-
To empower parents and carers to advocate for their children in the therapeutic process and provide additional ongoing support to parents to help their child through therapy and to learn how to access alternative education for their children. Through online resources, online courses and community support.
-
To create awareness of Body Dysmorphic Disorder in the broader public so that parents and carers can spot the signs earlier, to get immediate intervention, through stories, speaking engagements, podcasts, advocacy and AI.
-
To advocate for change in the mental health system so children can access a Body Dysmorphic Disorder specialist who is neurodivergent aware and able to accommodate the CBT process to suit the child, without limitations on the number of sessions needed, to ensure the therapeutic process proceeds at the child’s own pace.
-
To provide ongoing support and resources to schools and other professionals, and to advise on accommodations needed for children with Body Dysmorphic Disorder.
